All eyes are on the ideas people, now that innovation is being recognised as central to the UK’s industrial strategy
Working as we do with some of the brightest and most talented minds in the country, we’ve known for a long time that the UK is an innovation nation. There is an abundance of brave and bold thinkers who are prepared to take risks and push their ideas in order to move industry and technology forward. And it seems that the Government is ready take their support to the next level.
For 17 years, the Government has been supporting innovative businesses with R&D tax credits and this scheme has proved invaluable in rewarding those who want to help shape the future. We’ve already helped hundreds of businesses to claim back over £6 million, but this isn’t about us…
As we write, Chancellor Philip Hammond is poised to deliver the Autumn Budget and there is a lot of speculation about how heavily innovation will feature in his speech. The Government has already announced an extra £2.5 billion investment in R&D by 2021/22, bringing the annual total to £12.5 billion.
Commentators reckon there will be more money for electric car charge points and the next generation of 5G mobile phone networks, as Mr Hammond tries to gear up UK industry for a post-Brexit reality.
