Pilotless Search and Rescue at Sea

Manufacturing/Engineering – The Story of saving more lives by spending less

The Problem

The UK has almost 20,000 miles of coastline, meaning that the work carried out by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency is very taxing to patrol this large area and keep people safe when out at sea. The cost of running a coastguard helicopter is roughly £10,000 for every hour that one is in the air, making it very expensive to guard our coastlines each year.

The Solution

This innovative company are developing a series of drones that can be safely operated beyond the line of sight of the user, meaning that they can be controlled from the mainland and be used in search and rescue missions at sea. They will also possess built-in innovative technology to enable the unmanned system to identify individuals who are in need of assistance.
