Northumbrian Water has launched a global innovation platform to tackle the world’s big challenges
Do you have a brilliant idea for solving the most pressing issues of today? For many innovators, the biggest problem they face is getting their ideas in front of the right industry audience.
Well, a north east water company is calling on the world’s bright sparks to collaborate on a new innovation platform called Amplify.
Beginning with a challenge about the reduction of single use plastics, Northumbrian Water will post a series of real-world problems and invite people to share their ideas.
Anyone can register to pitch their solutions and discuss the issues with other collaborators. A relevant expert from within the company will monitor activity about each challenge and possibly take promising prospects forward
The company states that ‘there is potential financial backing and funding to develop and trial the best ideas.’
Angela MacOscar, the firm’s head of innovation, said Northumbrian Water loves new ideas that make a difference to their customers’ lives.
“Over the years we’ve heard from lots of SMEs and inventors who say they struggle to get their ideas off the ground or in front of big companies like Northumbrian Water,” she said. “This is the perfect opportunity. I’m calling on all SMEs, inventors, creative thinkers and innovators to get registered for Amplify and get involved; now is your chance to help us change the world.”
The first challenge specifically focuses on how the company can eliminate the use of plastic bottles when providing emergency water supplies to customers during a supply interruption.
